Elm Natural Edge Bowl

A natural-edge bowl in English elm, where the bark edge has been preserved and incorporated into the design. The rim undulates with the original contour of the branch, giving each viewing angle a different profile.

Elm is increasingly rare since Dutch elm disease, and this piece was turned from a section recovered during hedgerow management in the Weald. The wild, interlocked grain is characteristic of the species - beautiful but demanding to turn cleanly.
